I couldn’t agree more. We should concentrate more on paleography. Actually taking the time to learn how to read old handwriting and text is more important than doing something quickly with AI.
It's actually reasonably easy to gain the basic skills to learn how to translate most birth, death, and marriage records yourself, if you're willing to take the time. Those are stock phrases with only a few variants. I wish more genealogists tried.
