30 years ago today, Ukraine signed the infamous Budapest Memorandum.
The US, the UK and Russia gave their assurances that Ukrainian security and sovereignty would not be violated. In exchange, Ukraine promised to give up its nuclear arsenal - one-third of the Soviet nuclear arsenal in total.

Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦
Sometimes they get their acts together, but late.
It's the only thing that can ensure your sovereignty - N. Korea anyone?
Who would trust the US to defend Japanese sovereignty with all that is going on?

The only two options i could think of to keep Russia out.
The third option would be to disintegrate Russia now once and for all.
Do the job properly once and for all.
Slava Ukraini!
Russia would not have dared to attack another nuclear state. The Russian aggression today is a direct consequence of the Budapest Memorandum.
Russia is there by invasion from the start.
Besides, it's land locked to Ukraine, not to Russia. Putin had build a very long bridge.
Although in 1994 Ukraine was nominally the world's third largest nuclear power, the launch codes for these weapons were still kept in Moscow. Ukraine had no use for these nukes, which is why she traded them for the BM assurances.
Ukrainians today are paying the highest price. And I am sure that lessons have been learned by the whole world - although the conclusions they drew are entirely different.
Terrible lessons Ukraine learned.
But I have hope, because a different group of leaders is
working with Ukraine.
And Ukraine has a different leadership.
We will prevail.
Putin is fried.
And delivered it all, in moscow...
