It is now important to point out that a loss for Ukraine would mean a colossal failure of the Trump administration and Trump’s assertion that the sheer force of his presence and relationship with Putin would end the conflict in 24 hours from taking office.
That must be counting only direct war expenses. Including the cost of depression and lack of growth in the EU will increase that number tenfold at least.
the world thinks they can throw another nation into the gaping black hell hole that is russia and get away with it?
I think that even putin would see that level of irreverence as deplorable .
he will get his revenge on all of them, don't they understand that?
US spends > $800B/year on defense. The two main threats are russia and China - For < 10% of one year's budget, Ukraine has destroyed over half of Russia's army. Helping Ukraine is the most cost effective way to disarm putin/russia. Most of the help are also old mil. equipment
I am very interested in the statistics of how is the name Vladimir trending after the invasion. How many go for that name compared to before the invasion. This can be a good indicator of how Russians really feel about what is going on.
The authors of the report Elaine McCusker, Frederick W. Kagan and Richard Sims have drafted a possible scenario of the future in case of Ukraine collapsing after US aid stops. Their scenario assumed that three events would take place: US would stop providing aid to Ukraine;
Russia will become more aggressive towards the West after taking over Ukraine; US will join forces with its NATO allies in Europe to deter Russian aggression.
After a detailed description of how events might develop if this hypothetical scenario takes place, the authors come to the conclusion that it would cost the US an additional $808 billion in defense spending over five years (compared to the current planned levels of the defense budget).
"A world in which Russia beats Ukraine will be more dangerous and more expensive for America—and likely much more of both than we capture here." the authors write.
They conclude with a quote by Ronald Reagan, who said in 1984 that "isolationism never was and never will be an acceptable response to tyrannical governments with an expansionist intent."
