These are children that have more integrity than the ignorant officials.
Forcing anyone to shake the hands of their abusers is another form of child abuse and should be fired for even attempting to make these children to do so. Make officials accountable
Why Russians are even still allowed to participate in international events is beyond me?
"Individual Neutral Athletes" or AIN my shiny behind, they should be banned all together, no exceptions!
Anton, I'm in two minds about this. Of course Putin's Russia is the evil aggressor and Ukraine must win. But I would hope that the younger Russian generation would be aware that their leader/s could be in the wrong, even if they are powerless to stop that wrongdoing.
The way I see this is that all Russians and Belarusians need to be reminded of what is going on in their countries as often as possible. It cannot be normalised. Any discomfort they feel will make them just a little bit less likely to accept the regimes in their countries.
Respect from fellow athletes might help that process of understanding. I always believed that sport, music and art can break down barriers. Please tell me if you disagree. Слава Україні!
So proud of these young Ukrainians. Unless these Belarusian and Russian athletes are outwardly condemning Russia's part in the war against Ukraine, F them.
I have already suggested a ban on all sports events in the US until said admin is gone!!!
They are at a high risk coming here!!! If they are detaining their own citizens, what can one expect for a foreign national? Sports related or not!!!
Every athlete should be expressing concern..
17-year-old Daria Moshynska won a silver medal, and after the award ceremony, she refused to be photographed next to Vasilina Khandoshka from Belarus, who took third place.
The Ukrainian duo of Moshynska&Shmonina also won silver. They did not shake hands with the Russian athletes
sports are cool. not nearly as important as ethics for a society. If you do not get it why they do not shake hands with you the fact you are the fastest in pushing chestnuts with your nose means nothing.

The Ukrainian athletes know Putin plans to use Belarus as a staging area to begin their Spring assault!
