Here's the range for the Costa's hummingbird. I don't think that's as big of a problem as you think it is. Also, no one is moving somewhere just to live around a single bird species. What this really encourages is eco-tourism, which is what we need more of.
Incredible colours! Nature has given us so much beauty for free! But humans see "free" as something of lesser value so instead of nurturing, we destroy. Then when they're endangered, we scramble to save them. I think humans have this stupid saviour complex.
I have my bird feeders on a pulley system for easy refills. The feeders are at eye level

Hummingbirds are my favorites but Bushtits are a close second!
What a strange Baader-Meinhoff effect. Just saw one of these little guys in a museum yesterday, of course that one was stuffed and preserved, but still.

Moved to OR from SoCal, miss the varieties we saw there.
Hell, California was isolated by the construction of U.S. Route 60 and U.S. 70 and abandoned decades ago. No overpopulation or excessive eco-tourism worries there, but glad this hummingbird likes it. https://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-10-freeway-shut-down-near-blythe-20150720-story.html
