We don’t know until it’s been broached. I would reply a) the government in power need to show leadership b) times have really really changed in the last month, let alone the last 3 years c) it is the only way we will revive the economy and d) the government in power need to show leadership. 😏

I think they are showing leadership. We're discussing closer defence & security ties. The youth mobility scheme appears to be back on the table although I wholly disagree with capping numbers. They've tied themselves up in knots about the CU. I don't think the SM with free movement will happen.

And also needs a cross-party consensus. It would take longer than one parliament to sort out and EU would need some reassurance of continuity.

I’m sorry but I disagree. By the time they’ve finished their baby steps the UK will be in the gutter and actually I’ll probably be dead. As someone who lived almost all their adult life as an EU citizen I find all this ‘baby steps’ talk very irksome. Ok in 2022. Things have changed radically.

There's nothing to disagree with. I'm not a fan of the baby steps, but that's the reality of the pace of change at this current rate. I also have lived most of my adult life as an EU citizen. Studied in & speak French & German. I get it. More than most.

Not sure what the EU will do. Last time round de Gaulle Made Britain wait for ages before it could join. Doesn’t seem to have helped.
