If you're referring to 1812, I wrote,"other than 9/11... war, tyranny, terrorism hasn't touched US soil IN HUNDREDS OF YEARS." Also, I didn't at any point mention being surprised by the rise of nationalism. IMO, it never went away after WWII, they just hid. Trump/Brexit has simply emboldened them.
