Had a handful of comics in my really younger years and liked drawing comics. Around 10yrs old, my dad introduced me to his longtime friend who ran his own LCS out of his garage and said he could get whatever comics I wanted.
That was cool.

As I got older, the friend went away & I had to get them on my own. Did that until the mid 90's, which was a hassle in my Navy years.
Stopped in '96, then got back into it about 3 yrs ago. Completely different world from then to now.

I come from a family of huge readers. I had some random comics but when my mother got me a stack of Bronze Age war comics at Goodwill I become completely hooked. I’ve had to cut back on purchases but I can’t ever see me not collecting. Comics are “my thing”.

I first started with baseball cards in 1987 and then slowly got into collecting comics. My dad also got into collecting mad magazine at the time so it was something we did together which made it a lot of fun.
What keeps me collecting is the hunt, the escape when doing anything from reading to

Organizing them, socializing on Twitter or at the local comic shop or show. The amazing art and the investment aspect of collecting is a lot more fun than most other investments. Plus it’s still a bond with my dad who collects watches now but we still talk about our finds

I should’ve been first to share.

1) a stack of old war comic books at my grandmother’s I’d read every time I visited.

2) I took a 18 year hiatus but reorganized my old collection + discovering claim sales on twitter.
