2/2 Here's a graph from the WSJ story showing how bad the gap is:

So the graph shows rich people saved a ton during COVID and never resumed spending. Everybody else saved some, then returned to baseline.
We want to learn from data. It's not good enough that our interpretation of a visualization validates our beliefs.
Confirmation bias isn't justified because we do it.
Also this means nothing without a description of the Y axis.
