The people who will be most hurt by privatizing it are the so-called "real" Americans in rural areas. Back in 1789, getting mail delivered to rural areas was far more of a pain than it is now, yet the founders still proved for a postal service.

Technically the language is that Congress “shall have Power… To establish Post Offices and post Roads,” so I’m not sure it’s mandated to exist, but it’s definitely one of the few specific existing agencies of government identified in the Constitution, and it’s clear the framers recognized the need.

Retired postal here, what people know about USPS is what they see, carriers and the local post office, but there are people working 24/7 you dont see. We work sorting, processing, and transporting the mail to get it to EVERY delivery. Private companies will not do that.

LTL driver for a private company here.

Just in our small 7 driver terminal we have nearly as many people (5) who work out of the office/depot.

A larger one I worked at we had 13 drivers, and 17 office/warehouse staff.

And we did NOT service half as many stops as the PO.

This is how you know Republicans hate the actual Constitution. There's so much in the Constitution that Republicans are against, like Article I, Section 8, Clause 8, which addresses that they are supposed to promote the advancement of the Sciences.
