There was a Canadian politician on the news earlier today who said the Canadians couldn't understand why nothing was said by Trump about the deal in December. It was so he could pretend to threaten Canada with tariffs and then announce this deal today. Just an act to please his supporters.

It will be interesting to see how the China tariffs play out. When Trump tariffed them in his first term, China imported 39% of its soybeans from the US, now it’s only 20%. China switched permanently to Brazillian suppliers.
