It's daft that such like this will wind up with the label of "woke", because objectively, it's true. As countries industrialized and built stuff to explore, they had a look about to say "Oh hey, i wonder if some money can be made here".

I thought about going out to find a restaurant that I had not visited before … perhaps an Italian, Indian, Turkish etc.
I did not wish to explore & be labelled an imperialist & colonialist with cultural appropriation. So I had fish & chips - but now perplexed as apparent Greek or Portuguese. 🤔🤷🏼‍♂️

Indeed. One of the factors that contributed to Scott and his companions not making it back alive was his determination not to leave behind fossils they had collected on the trek to the pole, which showed that Antarctica had not always been ice covered.
