Some people have the idea that if you 'study policy', you should only speak up after you've done a 'rigorous' analysis, which almost guarantees speaking up after the damage is done.

Some academic"heavy hitters" in public policy & related fields have remained quiet about what's been going on over last two weeks. Some may want to stay "above the fray" and not "sully" their academic reputations or how they'll be remembered.
