visually so far this one's fascinating because there is SUCH a contrast between the real low-poly character models and the super detailed, almost painterly environment art. i think 8 bends more towards semi-realism and then 9 tries more for legibility for the isometric camera

i've been thinking about how much this is probably missing the CRT glow!! i do have it in 800x600 resolution on my laptop (split screen with a good ol' plaintext gamefaqs guide) so it's not super crunchy or anything but i'd love to see this on a thicc ol' tv.

I think it's the effect of time when I was younger and played ff7 lots of things were talked about, the whole midgard section, red 13 story, other stuff that I don't want to spoil you haha. It's always interesting to see how blurry and limited we remember the impact of a game
