Good Monday, Monday to you MJ. Another retirement perk-Mondays no longer loom large. I really don’t enjoy the wind, but a slight promise of snow accompanies it up my way so I’ll try to be grateful, but I really, really don’t like it, but snow would be so welcome🤷♀️
It's insane out there. I WAS going to do some grocery shopping and a pet food run, but not today. We have 40-60 mph wind out there. I switched to home delivery, but don't know if they can even make it, there's no visibility out there to drive. Rio Rancho isn't too bad, just tumbleweeds flying.
The mountain already looks foggy with dust. I'll be hanging out indoors. That's okay. I have a few things to do without going out.
We finally found new home for the pool table. I am glad it will go to a family who really want to use it. Exciting for them with a new home, with lots of space for them
I did not watch the Oscars. I will look through the dresses and at the opening performance.
Just trying to control outrage and do some exercise daily is a lot right now...
I’m terrified of slipping into a ‘well I can’t do anything about it so I’m just going to stick my head in the sand la, la, la’ mindset because it’s so exhausting, but I can’t look away.
Highest gust so far 37. Did you see posts of haboob in Deming? From here we can see huge dust clouds coming off the river banks.
Invasive Russian thistle, Russian olive, Siberian elm... Do I see a pattern here?
I had a science prof who kept telling us “you never do just one thing”. Every species introduced affects the natives. Cottonwoods have been decimated in some areas by Russian Olives.
A lot of r olive planted for shelter belts. Canyon de Chelly NM on Navajo Rez, gorgeous white sand canyon floor in1970. 30 years later choked with olive.
30 mph here, gusting at 40. Visibility is short, air is toxic, we’ll be indoors most of this week. Happy Spring. I must say, it’s times like this I miss Spring in Iowa in the 70s. Crocuses, not dust storms. Of course, those April snowstorms put a damper on all that. 😆
Whoa. I just went out to feed and water my birds. They are happy to dine here and I am too.
You're right. I will be doing my best to avoid the dust/pollen/dirt assaulting us. There is an Indivisible march tomorrow in town. I have a PT appt so I won't feel guilty missing it in the wind.
I miss Spring in Jersey too, but not coming out to my car covered in green tree pollen. But otherwise rhododendrons, azaleas, daffodils, crocuses, snowdrops I miss so much this time of year.
Did you watch the Oscars? I did since now with streaming and good local theaters I had seen a lot of the nominated pics. I wanted Adrien Brody to win and glad he did. I haven't seen Anora so no idea but I will look for it now. Like indie flicks. I was surprised it took top honors.
Crabby back yesterday. Think I overdid it the day before. It was a muscle spasm. Luckily I have devices to fight back. Thank good for my tens unit. It's behaving so far this morning. I will beat it back at the gym.
I am descended from Eastern European immigrants. This resonates so deeply with me. I still remember when Europe threw Czechoslovakia under the bus trying to appease Hitler. We will never forget.
Good morning! Glad to be back home. Our tumbleweeds are bad but not that bad, so far! Watched last two hours of Oscars. Glad to see Brody win. Also Brazilian film I’m Still Here. Of the nominees, I only saw the Dylan film and the Wallace & Gromit animated film, both very good but both shut out.
Welcome home, John. Not bad on the trails last week but it's early spring.
I was glad Brody won. And I liked his comments. He has won now twice playing Holocaust survivors. His ability to give life to the horrors is amazing. Timely indeed.
Missed the Dylan film due to the flu. Will watch soon.
Comments
I didn’t watch the Oscars. Have a friend struggling and spent the evening chatting with them.
Hope we all avoid the haboob. 😁
Thank you for being a good person and my friend.
Hard to enjoy the wind. I can watch a hedge in my yard shivering in the winds now. The little birds hide beneath it.
Hope you do get snow. There is that touch of cold in the winds.
I can feel the ick in my lungs.

Haven't seen them yet. I will love checking them out.
I believe that you do my smart friend.
Ugh

Glad I have a garage to protect Lucy.
