hey so on may 16-17 I'll be in malaga/spain showcasing my 3D modeling tool #half-edge at @guadalindie.bsky.social!

I'll be on the show floor so you can try it out c:

License? GPL?
it'll be released as commercial software!
Kk your choice afterall. Good luck!
Apologies if I've just not been in the loop but I initially thought this tool was originally going to be something more for level design but this looks more like a full modelling suite a la blender! Very cool!
it's somewhere in between! it's definitely not a fully fledged blender style software with cinema features, but it's still designed for making polygonal 3D models, while also having a lot of level art related features
I'll be picking it up when I can regardless, looks cool!

I'd be interested to see how quickly you could set up something using one of @makkon.bsky.social trim sheets, that's become my barometer of "how likely I am to use this for doodling cool little spaces"
if @makkon.bsky.social has some spare trim sheets it'd be fun to play with them!
most of my trimsheets are diffuse-only retro textures for quake, but I just uploaded these huge 4k megatrim textures for you to try! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1d7fXEvAnHQ9JcElOKZdMjYtj7TE_r4kp/view?usp=drive_link
the idea behind these is that they're a trimsheet set to build whole environments on one set. anything from structural to mechanical to simple panels. it's basically 4 trimsheets in 1
is it okay to use textures for VRchat purposes
So cool that you're coming back! Loved your presentation there last year
happy you liked it! and I had a wonderful time as well c:
For some reason, this tickles my brain in the best way while also making me jealous that I don't have this cool 3D modeling software. Lol
That’s pretty awesome! May I ask what’s driving the viewport? Is it based on Vulkan?
unity! so, platform dependent, but, currently d3d on windows
I’ve only recently discovered my interest in gpu dev and am currently rocking OpenGL/WebGL, but I’d love to give a newer API a try as well. An editor like this looks like a great project to bring a lot of stuff together. Awesome work.
hah, yeah it's very much a culmination of everything I've done in my career, it's fun!
It look so smooth and snappy !
I’d love to see some #Modo Modelling vibes into it.
thanks! anything in particular you like about modo?
Well, I moved from Maya to Modo in 2006, an even if I’ve sticked to Maya navigation system, I really like the flow for Modeling and UI.
« Nothing is selected, everything is selected » / Falloff system / Workplane / Convert any selection type to another component, but still be able to drive a
polygon operation while having an edge selected that can imply an axe tool direction.

There’s many thing to consider here.
And the action centers. One of the thing I miss the most when I’m not in Modo.
Hi yeah Action Centers are so appealing to use
Last year I couldn't go so I'm happy to know I can see you this!
Cant wait for it to release, looks so good already
thank you!! it's a terrifying project but I'm also very excited about it!
Im excited about a 3D modeling software finally having sane UI/UX 😅 the bar is not high, but seeing all your part work (shapes/SF) no doubt it will be amazing
Would this tool also be useful for modelling / making grids for CFD situations like rotorblades, pipes, hulls etc? Can it export to fluent/cfx/star-cd?
grids or meshes I mean
probably not! it's primarily designed for game developers, but I'm sure you *could* use it for some of those things
Neat.
Awww nice to see you there again!
Wizards do magic. Cool! Very excited!
It looks amazing!! I would definitely use this, will it be windows only?
I'm prioritizing windows but I'm planning on having mac and linux support as well!
thank you!! I'll def get it on windows as well!
Looks cool. What differentiates it from say Blender?
I'm so happy we can meet again!
