I love this game, but nobody's reviewing it and because of that, it's stuck in a mixed rating even tho it deserves a positive, at least especially for how much the devs worked and are still working on said game to make it even better

Agreed. Yesterday we were at 9 reviews for our new game and I did a little begging on here and got to 10 reviews. Then suddenly we appeared on the front page of Steam in New and Trending (for a few hours). Was pretty cool.

A review counts as 30 sales, and there are some hard caps like 10 reviews making your game available on the Discovery cue, 50 reviews giving you the very positive tag, and 500 giving you the overwhelming positive.

I agree with your 10/50/500 numbers but to be more specific about reviews/sales there's a think called the Boxleiter Ratio. Basically if you look at the review count and multiply by 30, that is a estimate of units sold. However, it can vary a lot, and be as low as x10 or as high as x100.

What I mean is that it appears that your game gets pushed way more for every review counted than you get for sales or traffic.

It varies, but the most important statistic you can have in your games is and always will be counted reviews.

you can also help by upvoting reviews that are honest and informative, and downvoting ones that are too vague or opinionated, so people can more accurately determine if they'll like the game before they buy it, thus lowering the chance of people being displeased and leaving a bad review.

This is a good point. I feel like I don't play enough of a game to leave one, even if I have 100+ hours into it. Did I play it right? Did I have a complete understanding of what the developers were going for? Did I like it after all that? So I don't leave a stellar, in-depth review, and I should.

Word of mouth is also another one of the best ways to support an indie game. It's the only way I knew about the game
"A Short Hike".

Who knew just telling me "You will climb a mountain as a bird" and thought, "why would a bird have problems scaling a mountain"?
