In 1610 (some sources mention the 12th March, others the 13th) Galileo Galilei published the 'Sidereus Nuncius' (Sidereal Messenger or Starry Messenger) in Venice at the printer Tommaso Baglioni.

It's a small but very important book because Galileo entrusts to it the descriptions and drawings of what he observed with an instrument: the telescope.
According to philosopher Ernst Cassirer, the book marks "a turning point in which the ages are divided".
The 'Sidereus Nuncius' is
a revolutionary book because the new vision of the cosmos, to quote Galileo himself, is the result of "sensate esperienze" (sensible experiences): it is no longer philosophy, but science.
Furthermore, it constitutes the prototype of a new literary genre: the scientific report.
And, therefore, it gives birth also to modern science communication.
In summary, the 'Sidereus Nuncius' is a unique masterpiece.
