I have two and treasure them, theyβre such beautiful workhorses. My first handspun lace shawl was made entirely from yarn I spun on a 2β ring spindle.
And I'm curious: Do you find that spindle-spun yarn feels significantly different to you than wheel-spun? I exclusively used spindles until I had enough saved for a wheel, and I think my spindled yarn has a different personality range.
I definitely agree that spindle spun feels different, especially support spindles. I think itβs usually more airy and squishy than my average wheel-spun. How about you?
Definitely airier! I was thinking that, on average, my spindled yarn has better drape and feels inherently softer, though I can't generalize too, too much given that I switched preferred fibers around the time I switched from mostly spindles to mostly the wheel.
And wow! That's a fancy-looking pattern for a fancy-looking fiber, which is appropriate since it came off a fancy spindle. π Errrghhh, I love that style of Golding.
Thanks! I remember it being much simpler to knit than it looked but I did love how it turned out. I hope you are able to add one to your collection at some point!
