Aw man, he was always amazing at creating uncanny presence, action, and depth out of a simple matte pallet and shadow. So many possible secrets in the pulp he adorned. Here's to hoping there's horn flares and marimbas wherever he's at.

I had the privilege of seeing some of his work up close.

I graduated from an art school in Hamden, Connecticut, in the late 1970s.

The school arranged a bus trip to the Society of Illustrators in NYC for their annual awards show. Robert McGinnis frequently had a painting or two included.
