Alfred Cralle was a Black inventor and businessman. While working at a Pittsburgh drugstore, he saw employees struggling to scoop ice cream and designed a tool to make it easier. His invention, the "ice-cream mold and disher," allowed for easy, one-handed scooping. He patented it on Feb. 2, 1897.
