The best gov't is a competent and ethical gov't that just runs quietly in the background making ppl's lives incrementally better. The world has gotten so complex & interconnected that there is literally no reason why the average person needs to make politics their secular religion.
Probably people who were relatively satisfied and too unaware to realize that they needed to vote for Kamala so that they could go on feeling satisfied were indeed part of the problem. It's like people having a nice afternoon nap on the Titanic.
It's a good thing that both parties are the same, because they represent what the middle majority of Americans want. The people upset about the parties being the same are the people who want things 90%+ of Americans do not want.
The young people I know mainly said they didn’t trust either candidate. Instead of voting for who they think is the lesser of two evils they choose not to vote.
That was my excuse for years.
Our current need for engagement is a function of the real danger we face.
If we had two competent, good faith, ethical, reality-based parties competing over ideas and occasionally working together for the good of the country - it would be both boring and a blessing.

The goal should be a fully engaged electorate of patriots who exercise a right so many have died for the world over.
