Apparently, AOC said in the hearing to ban TikTok, there was little to know evidence presented and all the legislators were confused why the app was uniquely being presented as a threat.

Apparently Rand Paul was saying that TT was also was asking if having an American board and hosting its data here and it was declined. Very weird to have Rand Paul and AOC agree
I feel the same. I still don’t see what the real problem is, why it’s anymore problematic than any other social media app, and no one has told me why. They just say that “China can access your data.” Okay, what data specifically, and why is that different than other SM apps?
So I guess the TikTok of the creator pretending to be an old legislator going off about the little Chinese man and asking “YES OR NO!” may have been more accurate than I thought 💀
That is exactly what is wrong with our politicians! They all bought Meta stock and thought we all would go there. NOT We have to stick together. I MISS tiktok and Booktok so much and it hasn't even been 24 hours.
AOC really needs to become president some day when our country isn't so backward.
Same. It was like an hour and a half before midnight and my app started shutting down when I watched her video. Hers was the first video whose comment section I couldn’t see.
And yet the majority of them voted for the ban. Idiots voting for something when it doesn’t make sense to you. This is who is supposed to be working for the ppl. I want AOC in charge.
I watched Senator Angus King with my own eyes, when confronted about the ban, lie to all of us that there were real intelligence threats from the app. We all are justified to be so angry right now. Let’s keep it going.
We all immediately knew what tf this was. We need to make sure we are organizing and not allowing them to keep us in the dark.
citizen app will let us see breaking events in the country with videos.

THIS! When I watched her video and she there was no real threat and if that what was understood by the majority of them and they still went through it! They’re corrupt and they’re literally showing us all who they really are. They can be bought!
Absolutely! I’m just like there are far bigger threats out there for y’all to tackle to help the people of the US but because it would be helping the people y’all focus on TT because it was actually exposing their corruption to the public like at this point they can just say it since we all know it
There are too many legislators in office that don't understand how anything works today at a basic level. It's dangerous that they're making laws about technology they don't understand because they can easily be manipulated.
Someone who works for the national security actually said under oath they have a proof of it being a security threat. Then Cotton starts to talk about Chinese propaganda "poisoning the minds & turning us against the government"
People lie under oath a lot. Especially when the government is corrupt and the likelihood you'll be brought up in front of a judge and sentenced is low
My mom was in the KY state legislature (she is a lawyer). First night there the men were all headed out and she said she had to stay in & read the bill. They said “We don’t read it, we just vote on it.” That’s when I was radicalized.
I was upset that many of the politicians voiced concerns after voting to ban it. I'm scared what all will be banned and if Canada (where I am) will follow suit.
Right?! The thing is I don’t doubt there is a “possible” national security threat- any internet platform could. But we KNOW that Meta apps were used by other countries to influence our election. Is that not a threat?!
Didn’t it all start because Trump felt insulted by the K-pop Stan’s getting tickets for his events as a memes of making it looked like it was sold out when it wasn’t?
So not only was Zuck mad that Meta couldn’t operate in china…muskrat was mad Twitter can’t be in china either and now 🍊 is pushing for a 50% sale of the app to the us gov 😅
Insane to me they went with the weakest angle possible to ban it and nobody raised a single objection. Our government is rotten, and there's only one party: tech-bro oligarchs and their slaves we call politicians. Also really glad I found you here from TikTok!
Nothing but. We need to recognize that the Democrat party was perfectly happy to let Trump win so they didn't have to pretend to fucking try helping the serfs they rule over.
Thanks for sharing this, it's very interesting and definitely goes against the narrative that the personal data of Americans was being given to the Chinese government which is what was admitted to in a hearing by TikTok. 😑
A few people have admitted to using Russian bots for misinformation. One big one is Christopher Boozey who runs them to promote that idiot Meghan Markle.
Let’s normalize not putting our energy into trusting politicians and focusing on building community with each other. We have always been an oligarchy. No person of authority has our best interest at heart in this system, they aren’t capable of it regardless of their intention.
I'm so jaded now. It seems like really great timing that just now these videos are coming out. Oh, so we were in fact gaslit and lied to? And these politicians that voted for the ban are what, nervous about midterms?

It’s incredible.
Even if you don't have evidence and it isn't true.
