I do remember when I worked for a startup in New York we used to joke that we didn’t want to pay rent and wondered how long we could live in the WeWork before they noticed and kicked us out. This was a joke though, I do not recommend doing it.

There was something weird about it, I should get around to watching that documentary sometime. It seemed like pretty decent rentable office space, if a bit aggressively hipster millennial. They gave us free booze on Thursdays because drinking on the job was, like, a whole thing in the early 2010s 😬

Yes, most bosses want their employees to prioritize their job like they own the business and employees should not have that burden but if you take away their autonomy becomes a different situation

Oh they also locked me out on Christmas because I couldn’t travel due to my grad school responsibilities but they didn’t want anyone in the dorms. Didn’t matter that I told them I had nowhere to go.

I had a R&D pharmaceutical job. If the ceo saw 2 of us walking back from the bathroom together 1 got pulled into the office and grilled. No money in the world would be worth "living" there.
