APA took nearly a decade to outright say that psychologists couldn't help torture war prisoners. They did eventually say that's unethical but literally it took several years. So when they come out saying something is wrong, I'm like damn, it must be really bad!

The fact that the APA is making a statement like this for the first time ever…. Is not a good thing. What took them this long? We all know they only care about their image. As a trans person, I’m fed up with every Therapy organization, staying quiet and complicit in transphobia.

I had to recently step down from their national DEI committee and right now I am in contact with the president so we will see what comes out of this. I was recently contacted for a meeting because she wanted to take accountability.

But I personally feel she doesn’t just owe me accountability. She owes it to everyone. It is sickening to me how she only comes to me, but doesn’t transparently apologize to the general public. And their organization is pandering to conservative money.

I’m not hiding anything because nothing needs to be hidden. So if I am belittled or shamed for talking about this publicly by AMTA oh well. But they wouldn’t let us meet for the past year on the committee. And I was supposed to serve a two year term.
