It’s so so so much money. One brand that has been in hot water offered me 9k for one video. I have never gotten that much. It’s hard to turn that down. But I can’t in good conscience promote something I don’t believe in.

Every youtuber I’m friends with, which are many, do the same thing. There’s this idea that youtubers only care about the payouts. You have no idea how much we talk to each other about these things. I think I reject more than most because i dont want to lose peoples trust.
I remember back when I made my podcast I got the weirdest sponsor offers. Like sketchy diet supplements. My show was about TTRPGs. I can't imagine how bad it's gotten in the decade since then.
The evils of capitalism...
If it's any consolation at all, there are fans/viewers out there that really appreciate that kind of integrity though. If you're going to have to shill something, it might as well be something you believe in.
and thank you for doing it, bc when I see youtubers I enjoy doing ads for shitty brands (cough betterhelp) I immediately lose respect for them & consider unsubscribing. I know yall got bills but I'd rather see 2-3 ad reads in a video than 1 for a crappy brand. no idea if it works that way though.
I know there are a lot of creators who take money from sketchy brands that have been proven to be as such. I don’t watch their videos, but you always reflect a confidence and trust in your sponsors. There are many channels that I follow where I know their integrity in vetting who they partner with.
