I’m reviewing each issue for CBR. I started with a casual interest in the series because I love the Fourth World, but each issue has blown me away. It’s so much better than I could’ve expected!

And yeah, it's honestly really awesome that Fourth World stuff lends itself to creativity like this. This run feels very fresh but also very fitting. The creators have really brought so much to the table in just three issues.

1. The more we look at the covers by Nimit Malavia, the more cool stuff we find. The art nouveau design has a skull! On purpose? There’s a star, krackle, and what looks like an explosion of feathers. And of course Mantis :) Meanwhile, the design for Karok is giving almost Akira/classic anime vibes

2. We weren’t sure what the black ball raining down was. Fragment of the great darkness? Something else? And we pondered the title Starcatcher.
3. Spent a lot of time enjoying Mantis’ design. He’s looking cooler than ever

5. The Chronicler sections had such a shift in feel. Federici did a stellar job, and with the coloring by Segala we got full storybook illustrations fitting for a mythological tale!
6. The designs of the god siblings go so hard, and cool their names are based in different languages from each other

7. With Kali Yuga and Ragnarok mentioned but being tonally different, it’ll be cool to see what gets referenced from each if there is a cataclysm
8. Is the great darkness related to Dark Crisis or the Great Darkness Saga?
9. Could’ve left Liv with Oberon in LV, but hey it'll be a fun family outing

10. Mention of New Genesis’ origin! Moder Pyxis is "mother", like Mother Box perhaps?
11. Wish we could’ve seen more Apokolips action!
12. Metron saying a miracle in butterfly wings, then the shot of Scott with his cape was excellent
13. And of course Scott’s smirk, and Barda wrecking absolute shop!

This whole series is created with so much effort and care, and it shows. We’ve loved theorizing and seeing clues that build into more. Something we don’t often get with DC comics these days! We've heard even people who didn't know New Gods are collecting the series. Heck yeah.
