i hate that all the art advices I'm hearing rn are either
- make more weird art, make niche things
- if you want a job you need an extremely curated portfolio with 100 examples of your stunningly polished work and 50 ys experience

I'm not sure that's.. an advice that always work though..
Although, I believe that'll happen in time, I'm sure not everyone popped off as a famous, well known artist from the get go

it means to make art true to yourself and your vision and to hell with what the mainstream wants- that by making something you mean, it will shine through.
the first quote is being wildly misinterpreted via contrarianism and misunderstanding and then a huge heap of "make yourself profitable by studio standards". ugh.
