You have every right to carry a musket or long rifle just like the founding fathers were addressing in the Constitution. Politicians have been twisting that amend. since 1876. United States v. Cruikshank. And it will continue to be reinterpreted.

Like the ones the founding fathers were addressing, AR-15 did not exist. The Second Amendment originally applied only to the federal government, leaving the states to regulate weapons as they saw fit.

At the time the constitution was written nearly all men between the ages of 16 and 60 were required to serve, keep arms and train. America didn't have a huge army and local Militia were organized. They purchased and carried their own guns.
