Serious questions to be asked of NTA who shelved previous scheme with planning permission and completed tender process, ready to go to site. Sold this as cheaper alternative with smaller stations. Now price is unrealistic and demand never higher. How many million euro keeping this on life support?

Directed by NTA who said a cheaper, smaller alternative could bring better value for money after the crash, giving political cover to the decision. Politicians went with that promise of better for cheaper and here we are.

After the Govt said no way to building it during the recession. Govt were in full-on austerity mode, there's no way they could seen the value of building such a project in a downturn.

Wasn't the project ready to go in 2010/11 with the money ring fenced until leo varadkar went into transport and cut it along with metro west? I known it had eu funding of 500m in 2010 and the RPA reckoned it would deliver 2e for everyone 1e spent.
