Over 650 known cases so far, and most have nothing to do with pro-Palestinian advocacy. The admin seems to be engaged in a breakneck effort to kick out every foreign student who has had even the most minor interaction with the police possible, including for TRAFFIC CITATIONS and JAYWALKING tickets.

I hate seeing international students treated so shabbily by the US, and I hate that it's official government policy to be hostile to them for no reason here in Canada. I'd like to see both rectified.

The problem was universities were removing more and more Canadian student spots and giving them to international students because $$$$. Caps were needed or more money to build capacity. Caps may have been too low but it was the right decision 2 years ago

That's not even a little bit of what was happening.

In actual fact, international student tuition has been subsidizing domestic tuition. International students pay full tuition, domestic students pay tuition capped at 2% raises per year.

Domestic tuition has historically been subsidized by provincial governments, but the amount of that subsidy has been set and hasn't been raised with inflation for the past 25+ years.

And no, international students haven't been taking seats from domestic students. Anyone saying that is ignorant or lying. Post-secondary institutions hire sessional instructors to teach the international students while tenured, regular, or high seniority faculty get domestic students.

Yes actually they have been. Capacity should be built rather than caps. Whole colleges only exist and are a huge proportion of international students. There's one on KW in ON.
