yshtola being called the “mom” of the group will never make sense to me because she has zero motherly traits outside of being a woman which im 99% sure is why she gets labeled as one

y'shtola: is generally pleasant to people who respect her and shows concern for the WoL and a few other people
the fandom and also the writers apparently: mommy? sorry. mommy? sorry. mommy? sorry. mommy? sorry. mo-
that "i'll send you to bed without supper" line will forever be one of my most hated ones because with anyone else it would be seen as the funny banter it was meant to be but with y'shtola it's the one thing some people choose to define her with
I think there's two of them so far in the story as a whole, iirc, and it's far from enough to qualify as 'proof' that she's the mom imho like you are entirely right
Am i the only one who feels like Krile or Tatatru fits the role better? They are both always fretting over everyone and nearly everything and have way more vibe of genuine care
she hasnt had any character arc yet but she desperately needs one and its gotta be over her “pursuit of knowledge” and that a lot of times she disregards other peoples feelings and is very arrogant
i'm on so much copium right now but wouldn't it be so fucking exciting if, in her pursuit of knowledge about the key to inter-shard travel / interdimensional fusion, she gets SO absorbed in it that she ends up having a villain arc? wouldn't that be just so cool i would be sitting UPRIGHT IN MY CHAIR
The endwalker post patches should've had the Yshtola apology tour with Matoya and Y'mithra, and relaying a message to Runar. Instead stuff like this gets relegated to small dialogue updates.
She had a bit of development with the latter thing in Shadowbringers (realizing that she couldn’t fix Thancred and Ryne's relationship and had to let them do that on their own), but it was kind of in the background.
i dont agree because her bring up thancreds attitude toward ryne isnt character development for her moreso its for thancred and his current status as rynes guardian/father and how hes struggling with it
and her arrogance comes from how she treats others and gets frustrated when anything “inconveniences” her and also from how the writers treat her as the mouthpiece for important lore and knowledge that cant be challenged and she does have a very high opinion of herself
She has changed in how she handles frustration, though. When we reunite with her in Shadowbringers, she's initially quite irritable, likely due to the stress of being trapped on the First. This causes her relationships with both Thancred and Urianger to deteriorate, the former due to his...
...treatment of Ryne and the latter due to his position as the Exarch’s confidant. After darkness is restored to Rak'tika and the Night's Blessed are safe, she calms down somewhat. While she's still upset with Thancred, she takes a step back and allows him to figure things out with Ryne on his...
I wouldn't really call her arrogant, though. I think she has a very strong sense of morals that sometimes leads to her becoming confrontational, but I don't get the sense that she has an inflated ego.
