Ornithology is a branch of zoology concerning study of birds. Birding is observing wild birds in their natural environment. This project is a tongue in cheek illustrated play on words. Therefore neither description would be factually correct but it's humour where the former suits the final product.
I know what ornithology is having worked in it all my career. I just don't see how this is ornithology. Birding, birdwatching, perhaps, although what I see is humour based on the depiction of birds, not the activity of birding. But it has no relation to the scientific study of birds. IMO.
I never doubted your credentials. I merely stressed why neither is literally accurate. Monty Python's Flying Circus neither flew nor was it a circus, just as no saddles were burned in Blazing Saddles. It's humour.
