Do not underestimate this. They are consuming media and listening to people pretending to be centrist that we older folks are not. This worked well for the right in America. This is the same exact thing! It cannot be underestimated.
Not if we educate them 🇨🇦 Who TF would want to live in an unstable, racist, exploitative, no healthcare kind of place? Those with so much $$ that none of those things matter, that’s who.
Nooooooooo. Don’t even ask this question. It’s a dumb question OR if you must, thrown in balance. How many Canadians don’t wash their hands after pooping?
Same results. That’s my point. There are always idiots who skew data.
Are we really going to criticize young people for being open-minded? For 2 decades, I taught young people to be aware of bias, do their research and inform themselves before reaching a decision. Bravo to them if they are actually doing so.
I agree with many who focus on how it’s only 35%… but we should be saying “why” and how can we do better as Canadians to change that. Youth are losing hope in 🇨🇦 in ever owning a home, affordable living, of having a job that pays (VS taking work for free internships). They don’t see that in the US.
Just remember who owns the news is a billionaire and the people writing appear subordinate to the whims of the far right, when reading the above article. 😂
Or in this case a nonsensational headline that absolutely doesn't tell the story. The story being Canadians overwhelmingly reject the idea. This is a "so you're saying maybe" situation.
Paying attention to these bullshit sideshows in the first place is enabling the fascists. Write about the fucking coup happening in America in real-time or get a different profession.
Except it's not a bullshit side show. Elon Musk now has access to trillions of dollars in a totally opaque system. And that money is going to come out of your pocket and mine. Every time we don't pay attention, that bullshit sideshow becomes SOP.
I know. The whole thing pisses me off. The Democratic party just Pearl clutching instead of acting. At least they slowed down Kash Patel nomination today
..it has to be pointed-out however, that according to this one survey, 50% (!) of 18 to 28 year-old Canadians are either 'open to explore' US membership, are up for it or have no idea. Worrying.
And in the same vein 50% reject the idea, right? Even in that week formulation of "open to explore" I mean fucking Canadians, the stereotype is actually true. "Open to explore" could be followed by Hawaiian pizza. Pushing the earth into the Moon.
Yeah. I know. But I've got to start right next to me. I help the homeless, I see transgendered people every fucking day. I can help them a little bit. Then when I feel a little better maybe I can do the bigger stuff
And I don't mean to say that there is bigger stuff than maybe stopping a genocide against transgender people. I'm just saying I can buy some shit. Make some connections
Not quite, the stats from the poll give rise to many narratives. It’s up to media to choose which one they want to focus on. So is it more important that 25% of a particular age cohort think this, or maybe that 3/4 of the same cohort think the opposite. Or that this equated to 7% of total population
I'm not rejecting what you're saying. I used to work in statistics and political analysis. I know what you're doing. We're not supposed to talk about cohorts when we're talking in public. I can't explain it in so many characters. Which is why the right wins. Lies travel...
No, quite! As you say the media choose what to focus on. That's what they're doing. They could have done every single thing you said. THEY chose. So you tell me what's important. Or maybe I tell you what's important

Like, a lot of weed.
Same results. That’s my point. There are always idiots who skew data.
The remaining 25% will be standing with the others when they realise they will have to forgo universal healthcare to be part of US
Now I'm middle-aged, while I enjoy visiting, I'm glad I don't live there...
You are either in or out.
Like some Brexiters who thought that they could try outside and then if they didn’t like it go back in again.
Its little chips here and there add up.
This poll was published over two weeks ago. Much has happened since then.
Both are in America.
(In the youngest bracket)
Click bait at best.
