I am too sick to go to any prerelease events this weekend, but if you’re going, please tell me about your sickest plays so I can live vicariously through you!

Doubling exhaust triggers with the 0/4 defender is pretty fun when you have Loot. Deal 6, draw 6 etc. is pretty fun. Oh, and my son opened a Chrome Mox, so that was cool!
I did manage to win a game on the play after mulling to 6 and keeping a one lander. District Mascot and Stampeding Scurryfoot kept me going early though.
It was most likely sub-optimal, but I wince at going to 5. The other spells I had were low cost ones, so I was probably just very lucky (and opponent was playing a slower vehicles deck).
Probably the sickest (see: silliest/dumbest) thing I did was accidentally sleeping my Lumbering Worldwagon behind a combat truck and, thus, never actually playing it.
Opponent got out Valor's Flagship as an Artifact Creature. Ran a "desperate" attack that got my Gastal Blockbuster killed. 2nd main, played Coalstoke Gearhulk, brought back to the Blockbuster, brought down the Flagship. Play that saved me the match and got me to 1-1-1 at the end of the night.
Well, sadly I went 2-2 in my 4 round pre-release event (got 2 packs still, but eh, I like doing a bit better). The best thing was that I had the Refueler with the Goblin that makes a Dragon, and three turns in a row I just went "Guess, I make a dragon" because I drew nothing but land.
It is what I wanted to do with the deck. It’s a shame I could only do it once :(
How’s the writing? Your constant tweets late last year inspired me and last Friday I wrote a short story for the first time in 5-6 years.
Thank you! It means a lot. I actually sent a post to G the other day about being able to email him (or you) about stuff, but I guess it sounded a bit cryptic (and was around ppr, so bad timing from my part). The thing is, I’m a film critic and want to write about Friday nights and its return.
I had an amazing wg deck, that did not drop a game. At one point i had 3 veteran beastriders out together with basri and flooded the board with cats each end step. Was also splashing for the ug god and the debreetle who also eon some games on their own.
Went 3-0 at pre-release last night. Got to play with the Death's Shadow car and also double lightning strike-d my opponent for the win in the final match
I ran simic vehicles with a lifecraft engine where the primary combo was Mu Yangling (I opened 2 of her) and Thopter Fabricator. Unfortunately round 1 I went against a GW stall deck and ended fourth (1-1-1) but it was a very fun deck to pilot, pun intended.
I had a fun Simic tempo deck! Had a good boy doggo, The Aetherspark, and Oviya to cheat things into play. Managed to ult the Aetherspark twice to activate a handful of my exhaust abilities, cast some spells, and draw some cards.
I had a Rakdos deck with no less than 3 one-drop rares (2 Burnout Bashtronauts and Gas Guzzler), as well as a Bloodghast.
Very mean aggro deck that consistenly reached Max Speed by turn 4 and could close out games with nasty surprises with haste thanks to Amonkhet Raceway.
My first round of the prerelease I came up against someone who’s deck looked remarkably similar, turns out after checking we had the same 5 rates and 2 Mythics including Loot and a mid pack Galvanic blast… I think someone whoopsied at Wizards
Played esper affinity, being able to recur demonic junker twice from grave (once with dune drifter, once with tune up) was absolutely the sickest play of the night. Ended up going 3-0
I pulled Loot last night, so build a Temur good stuff deck that mixed Max Speed with a little Exhaust & loot/discard effect. He's way better than I thought he'd be because he immediately impacts the board.
Also, Vnwxt at Max Speed helps you go through your deck to find answers. Max Speed is good.
It all came together in the end. Got some other good pulls but no real syngery. Not enough mounts of vehicles for Caradora, nor enough mill for Aatchik or Mimeoplasm.
I don't think the set is great but has a lot of good pieces. Limited seems very aggro driven for max speed.
That being said, there are a lot of creatures with high toughness, so can be hard to get through with attacks if you don't have evasion or pump effects.
Some things don't seem to mesh well but drafting might be a more coherent environment. Able to better focus more synergies.
The legendary octopus. I had to use that as a blocker a bit. Flyers & menace are good. Trample less do it seems because you need to get past high toughness but that's just my experience.
White & blue cards seem to be low P high T which stalls out games.
Also helped a young fella build his first sealed deck (his 1st pre-release), he went with Rakdos burn & drain, since he usually plays Rakdos. He said he had fun with it.
You're never gonna believe this one. Got my packs, first rare pull? Triple Crack Lotus! And my first opponent? Adele, the singer. It was nuts! Every time I was hit, she sang "Slap!". She trounced us all, cleaning shop, and then at the end? She gifted everyone a Collector Booster!

Won my pre-release with golgari stompy.

I hope you feel better.
on one of my games, my opponent blocked my creature with their Sita Varma and another creature, and got got by this combat trick
I've been playing for almost two years now, but I feel like I got something new out of the game today
Need more practice with crewing.
