The American Association of Universities should be convening universities in a joint response to defend higher education. AAU represents the top research universities in the country public and private. Strength in numbers.

The fact that so many DEI units at college universities took a hard pass when confronted by attacks on their Jewish students did lesson desire to defend.
Imp. to culture support.
The Cowardice of the Century--GOP, law firms, universities, and companies that boost Trump's madness by fearing to stand against him!! If one were in a burning house, you'd head ASAP for the exit! But not brain-dead Trump-captured sycophants. History will not view such cowardice kindly.
Higher Ed on trial-it must collectively show that it embraces the legacy of The Enlightenment-Rationality over Monarchy!!! Higher Ed is at a crossroad: Fight or become expendable and irrelevant. Ditto for Law firms and even the Supreme Court! Resist or fall.
Yes! Higher Education is in the cross-hairs of the Authoritarian Right. While K-12 provides society with basic norms --though increasingly attacked for even this--it is the Universities and Colleges that provide the tradition avenues to critical thought. This I what the Right wants to crush.
College boards aren't made of enough working academics.
The millionaire former alumni on most boards aren't known for speaking truth to power. They tend to be of the same class of people that folks are mad at.
Exactly this. The AAU has the collective influence and infrastructure to mount a real defense of higher ed—but only if its members act like a coalition instead of competitors.
Project 2025 tracker. Progress to date. Haven't seen this on media-have you? Destruction rampage generally considered result of T's madness. Or media goes in circles asking "why?".
It reflects intentional systematic dismantling of government/econ crash. Media (famous person?) could track it daily.
