Absolutely not! If developed and scaled, it could remove the suffering of the cows and the carbon/methane emissions that the cows produce from the entire meat industry. There is no clear downside (that I know of) to expanding lab-grown meat production
No, it would be a game changer, less land would be needed for livestock and if the meat can be produced quickly and isn't too expensive it could massively increase food availability.
Increase PROTEIN production at (after capitalization for the design, construction and rollout of the production & packing facilities are paid for) likely much lower prices than animal meat raised for slaughter.
Plus, no more animal killing. Reduce runoff, fece toxins in watersheds
If there isn’t livestock on it, ranches won’t need the land and they’ll sell, lots of people will be out of work, and that land bought up by developers. I think there’s a place for it, but not to replace all beef. I trust nature more than man. I won’t be eating any of it.
I get that some jobs could be impacted but lab grown meat would create new jobs in biotech, food production, and other areas and as for the land, it could be repurposed for more sustainable uses like rewilding, sustainable farming, or forestry.
If lab grown meat is affordable and proven safe, it would be more efficient than livestock. It's not just about using less land, it also means less water and crops for feed, and less greenhouse gasses. Overall, lab grown meat could have way more environmental benefits than traditional meat.
That said, I think traditional meat should still be around for cultural reasons or just personal choice, people should still have the option to raise their own livestock for personal use or hunt for food if they want to for example.
I’m going to stick with plant based foods. But wouldn’t they die off if humans no longer kept them for profit? Also, how do they get the animal cells? Do they have to have live donors?
It could be a way to end the suffering that animals endure. I’m vegetarian and it started when I became fully aware of factory farming and its impact on not only animals but people. Environmental racism is real.
Absolutely NOT! Growing meat in laboratories means fewer cattle, which in turn means less methane being pumped into the atmosphere, where it is a significant contributor to global warming.

You need to give ideas room to grow, discover and solve problems, and mature, before you make drastic decisions.
That’s idiotic
Kill a steer or use a cell.

Misunderstood their response. Punch biopsies are far preferable to brutal slaughter! 💙✌️

5 star idea.
