Hi Andrew, I understand the significance of this post. Please allow me to share some thoughts... While I don't have absolute data on this, but when push came to shove both founders were okay to comply with totalitarian regimes. Secondly, how is Meta acting like this post Cambridge Analytica
Well, data collection for the purposes of targeted advertising is what Meta does. (Cambridge Analytica was a scandal because someone else other than Meta collected the data via Facebook.)
The hullabaloo is that Bluesky envisions a future where the user has a say in who profits off their content. Will people see value in that when choosing a microblogging platform? Remains to be seen.

I’d argue that designing a protocol where we have the ability to find (and build) platforms that DO care about us is a much greater good. It’s the love that can let go…
And I do miss my Pixar days. And while I still love many of the folks there, I’m fine where I’m at now.
