I don't know why you lot complain about the price* of Granny R's various rootveg-based distillations. Just saw the attached bill for whisky from a hotel in Braemar. Someone's making a fortune - the Balvenie 50yo is only £32k for a whole bottle. Thoughts @macanultaigh.bsky.social ?

Makes Rooty's 2 for the price of 5 offers look like selfless charity.
But it gives me an idea for gin tasting evenings at þNCB. I'll ask Granny R to rustle up some 20, 30 and 50 yo samples ASAP.
Most expensive whisky I bought was a 40yo Glent Grant that I bought on my 40th birthday (1996) - £80. Now costs over £2000!
Maybe if the lottery comes up.
I mean, there's the investment, the keeping it, risk of theft, and do on, but the scale is excessive.
On the other hand, rich tourists paying that is its own justification.
Not that I think there was any proportionate redistribution of wealth, obvs.
It was a party of 15, who each spent £10k on whisky. Tell me again why an asset tax on the very rich isn't justified?
But spending like that just makes me wonder about the lack of imagination of the person paying.
Who are these people?
I'm genuinely shocked!
Had to share is with 5 other people though.
Aye- Well is it said that a fool and his money are easy pairted...
