Also, Next Gen had plenty of female admirals. I'm not sure what they mean by "admiral/captain for at least one season" - I haven't been following New Trek so I don't know if they changed gears on this but Star Trek always starred one crewed spacething & its crew's leader. Never admirals.

It's possible the good doctor just isn't familiar with Star Trek, in which case fair enough but for what it's worth, I think if you watched it you'd see your concerns were indeed at the top of the show's mind, even if not always perfectly addressed.

...already overrepresented as captains for historical reasons. The next show's captain obviously, obviously, OBVIOUSLY had to be Asian, even straight-up Chinese or Indian, for a thousand reasons. I see no reason to not make that choice other than missing the point)

Agree. I think Beverley Crusher was Captain just once and should have remained - she did well against the Borg.
