But Scotland isn't and has never been a Colony. Some Scottish people throughout history have been Colonial Administrators though. Think about that.

Scotland had it's own COLONIAL ambitions. Anyway we're both British (legally) and that's that, but also Scottish & English respectively. My mother was from Perth.

good. Thanks. It's just when Colonial stuff gets bandied around I like to point out the English did not have exclusivity on it. Many states in Europe was at it. The Yanks have done a bit of it too in the 19th Century but don't like admitting it. "Scotland as a Colony" isn't going to fly legally.

Nonsense. Before the 1707 union between Scotland and England, Scotland established several colonial settlements, primarily in the Americas, including Nova Scotia, East Jersey, and New Caledonia.
Darien a failed attempt by the Scottish Company of Scotland to establish a colony in what is now Panama.

where i'm from...... we have benefited from Scottish industrialists (Ship Builders etc.), Football coaches & players. And it's been two way. Build a bridge and get over it. We are British. Anyway, i'm distantly related to one of those Scottish UK Prime Ministers..... Good luck in your Nationalism!

I think at the time it was very lucrative to have the union. Scotland was pretty down financially after the failure of the Darien (Colonial) scheme in Panama. Pretty sure a lot of Scottish nobility did quite well out of the union. Worth looking deeper into. There was much willingness I think.
