People who write essays minimising fascism in Germany then get angry at the backlash - just stop it. Take the clicks and go. You know what you’re doing. None of these people ever mention politicians like Karamba Diaby who were beloved by many voters but were hounded from public office by fascists.

Yes. Not a mention. And no mention either of how poorly they can be treated by employers, how trapped they can be by their visa sponsors, how so many have to struggle, day in day out, in a pervasive and demeaning hostile environment that shows them active disrespect and tramples over their rights.

These essays about the legitimate concerns of AfD voters in the East never, ever quote (1) asylum seekers in the East, (2) reputable historians from the East, or (3) the identifiably fascist things these AfD politicians in the East have actually said. It’s deliberate. They think we are fools.

This reminds me, in a small way, of how American media covers rural America. They almost never interview liberals or marginalized communities in places like North Dakota or Montana. It’s also white Trump voters. It paints a very singular picture, and I think it’s on purpose.

Hey Musa- enjoying the coverage. The issue is
“legitimate concerns”. Either the
goal is to win back AfD voters (so nuance only detracts), or the talking points are shifting into centrist ideology -so should be debated. Problem of both is that the former leads to the latter while skipping debate.

Hey, thanks Rob. I increasingly feel most of the talking points should be rejected rather than debated. As in - migration is the solution to so many of these problems. Debating it as if it’s a problem just enables more of these prejudices.

This is really it and it happens in the US too, but you can replace "migrants" with almost any "out" group you'd like for it to still be relevant here. Indeed, what about the people actually paying the price for all these policies, all this commitment to "economic anxiety" coverage in major papers?
