Also curious as to your taste in fantasy novels!
As wordy as Tolkien was, I truly loved The Hobbit & LOTR. In fact, those works were a major inspiration behind the fantasy trilogy I'm currently writing.
(My wife is planning on getting a Scoopy-Banoopy tattoo...)
If you're ever interested: a natural next step would be to look for decks/commanders that are black + another color. Just going to something like EDHREC to look at cool commanders can give you a lot of ideas!
