I had to read Man's Search for Meaning in high school many years ago. It started my life and helped frame it. The book is still a primary influence.

I read this years ago. Recommended by my then therapist. Viktor Frankl, to come through to survive the real life horrors of halocaust and still believe in humanity and the ability to give back. I need to read it again. Thanks for this.

The Palestinians seem to have suffered so so very much. It was the straw that broke the camels back for me, when I believed dems-rep no difference.There is no good choice. It’s a book essentially about finding purpose and the will to keep going in the most unbearable of circumstances. Written by a psychologist who was in a concentration camp.

i enjoyed that book, but then read an essay about how it's very unhealthy to compare everyday life with a death camp; simultaneously it undermines resilience and trivializes genocide (which happens today despite the idea we should remember to Holocaust so that "it never happens again")

I recently read it and don't feel it did any of those things.
Perhaps the essay is more in depth, but illustrating how one can find meaning against all odds isn't undermining what happened, and logotherapy itself isn't about comparing ones own life to the worst experience man has endured

I’m not sure how a survivor’s story could at all trivialize the Holocaust.
And I also didn’t think it is meant to compare situations of everyday life to those experiences. Only provide perspective on surviving suffering.

Multiple traumas. This book helped me. I would never claim my suffering was the same as those in concentration camps. But losing the will to live (no matter the circumstances) is something Frankl spent his life helping people overcome.

Read it back in November. A good read - not an emotionally easy one, but good and I recommend to others I know as well. I would suggest picking up a biography on Raoul Wallenberg if you have the time.
