Getting a bit chonky there. Time to slow down their eating a bit and encourage them to play more. Some cats practically inhale their food and don't give their tummy enough time to register fullness. There's feeding dishes that facilitate this, or you can feed them a little at a time at mealtimes.
Uni is apparently a cross between a Munchkin (dwarf cat with very short limbs and a normal torso) with a Persian (huge longhaired floof). Uni looks bigger because he's all fluffed up. I don't think he's obese, he just looks funny
Uni is apparently a cross between a Munchkin (dwarf cat with very short limbs and a normal torso) with a Persian (huge longhaired floof), so yeah, he's a funny-shapped cat!
Former cat rescuer here. Please take my advice....Uni is grossly obese and at high risk for ketoacidosis complications from diabetes. That could prove fatal. Get him to the veterinarian and get him on a canned food only diet to prevent this. It is likely he will need insulin the rest of his life.
If this photo is not the result of the photographer's distortion of Uni's body, we agree. This is not cute for a cat to be so grossly overweight. Like the above account states, Uni's heart, kidneys, liver, other organs, let alone his poor joints in his feet, ankles, knees & hips will not last...
You know nothing about Rosey, how much she is fed or her condition … instead of jumping to ill informed judgement just join in the love for beautiful cats!
Becky knows zero about #UNI either. Look at Uni's site and you will see that cat is being OverFed for #Money! The comments & excuses like Becky's who also is posting a photo of her chunky cat, thinks it's so cute to over stuff a cat to obesity & then #Monetized it by buying merch of Blk&Wht Cats, &
then dressing #Uni to look like the Merchandise. Uni's Owner is still selling a Stuffy for Valentines Day that's a cheap stuffy, & a pink hat & bow tie is on it. So they put a pink hat & bow tie on Uni. This is Abuse. And Uni is a #DesignerBreed Munchkin w/short legs mixed with skull deforming Flat
I love all pets, but I have watched several overweight animals suffer, from overfeeding and the health problems they suffer from i. If there is a medical issue, I understand. But I don't believe overfeeding is healthy for animals. Nothing personal, just my opinion. I have 4 dogs, healthy as can be
Nothing wrong with having an opinion on weight/over feeding … everything wrong with implying criticism of others when you know nothing of the facts … it’s the insidious downside of social media which saps the joy out of enjoying something as simple as a photo of a cat!
Again, I was not criticizing. I have seen many animals and rescues who were miserable, overweight, and in less that optimal health becuase of it. I'm not trying to steal your joy, but any living thing that is overweight will eventually have health problems.
we hope this is Ai generated photo. showing off obese animals is not cute nor funny. Kitty needs help as stated by others here. Kitty is your kid. Will you be happy to show off your obese kid/child. Where is animal control when u need them
Uni is a cross between a munchkin and a Persian, so yes, he's one of them short-legged kind of cats, and Persian are big and floofy. He's fine he just looks unusual
He's being overfed. Is he being overfed for clicks on social media & so you will make a nonsense post? This is not Uni's fault any more than it's the fault of an Obese 3yo Toddler.
Is she part Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest Cat? Bc those breeds can have large & heavy cats with many layers of fur. But females are not that heavy. Most cats who have gone thru the trauma of desertion (I know of a cat who was left behind, empty house not searched for 30days. He had toilet water but
no food! When rescued was SKINNY & sick w/4 parasites, pneumonia & a friend who rescues cats drove to NYC to get him b4 they pts. He's had the Best Life as CEO of Catnip Sales for my friend's Rescue & counting the Cases & Bags of food Daily stored for the cats. He also worries something will happen
to his Dad & he'll not be fed. And his dad finds little piles of kibbles in the weirdest places, that the other cats at the rescue leave alone, the CEO is constantly hiding!! Bc after more than 15 years of a secure life with his dad, this chubby CEO has never forgotten being starved & deserted ❤️😍🫶❣️
So after a little research, this “minuet” cat is a manmade hybrid between a munchkin and a Persian. Uni is NOT overweight, as this is how Persians are supposed to look…just created with some extremely unfortunate genes for human enjoyment, at the animal’s expense. As always.
He looks overweight as well. If he's this manmade hybrid, it's cruel, inhumane use of genetics!! Instead of using DNA to eliminate Genes that cause debilitating physical traits & health conditions. Persians, Burmese & Himalayan were given a flat face which created #Brachycephalic: skull bones are
It's apparently called a Minuet. It's a cross between a Munchkin (dawrf cat with very short limbs and a normal torso) with a Persian (huge longhaired floof). Uni looks bigger because he's fluffed up
