I'm not sure. I tend to go by what my phone says, which can be confusing or obscure. It did cite some images of rose mallow in its search results.

The Hibiscus is generally woody - like a shrub. The Rose Mallow (which is our native Hibiscus) dies down to the ground every year. But its flowers are either pink, as shown, or white with a red throat.
