I don't understand how DLC can be game of the game. Why wasn't Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty not nominated for game of the year? It won “Best Ongoing Game”. So inconsistent with these nominations.

Also, I feel a way with Balatro being there with no story elements to speak of in the typical games nominated when Forza Horizon 5 was snubbed for said reasons.

The only real new gaming experience here is Balatro everything else we have played before in some way. Seeing a DLC for goty also is pretty wild like what are we doing couldn't find another actual game to nominate Yakuza or something? I'm ready for 2025 Fable and GTA 6.

I'm 50/50 with Elden Ring DLC being there. I feel like Silent Hill 2, Like A Dragon, Black Ops 6 should've been in that spot. Im also not sure about Baltro

I've been playing Balatro just to see what all the fuss was about and while it's addictive and innovative in some ways in how they approach things I don't see anything GotY about it.

It may get a win in Best Indie or Debut Indie game though.

It seems fair. I’m not sure if DLC should be nominated, but it could be argued that any 2024 release could be considered.
