Yo. Just threw this together in krita last night. Going to work on it and eventually make it a Stepmania simfile. And I'm getting better results than with Photoshop or GIMP.

I personally think Photoshop still might be better for editing images but Krita has all basic tools you need and it has much more friendly UI.

Tons of FOSS projects have mascots - from Tux the Linux Penguin Beastie the BSD daemon to Wilber the GIMP...uh...vaguely coyoteish thing? Kiki is in the game SuperTuxKart, which has a bunch of them.
