We don’t have to approve of them ourselves for people to become normalized. If we can’t talk to people like ‘Jeff Flake’ then we can’t possibly bring anyone new to our side. There aren’t enough self identifying liberals to win elections every year.

We can talk to them, but if it doesn’t involve holding them accountable, then there’s nothing to talk about. We got here by letting these things slide and normalizing it. People got used to psychopaths because we kept pretending they’ll be the outlier.
More states are trending red than blue. We are outnumbered in senate and electoral maps. We have to build a bigger coalition. This means finding common ground on some issues. We don’t have to elect people like Flake but we at least should have friendly conversations with them.
This mindset is exactly what keeps losing Dems elections.
How about instead of constantly trying to build coalitions with people seizing power, we vote on POLICY????? Run on good policy and progressives will win across the country. Or keep supporting genocide while pretending to be better.
You won’t get a democratic senator from Indiana campaigning on the same issues that are popular in Massachusetts. But if you could get someone who agrees on key issues and votes with democrats 60% of the time that would be a win. Deeper coalition.
Healthcare translates universally. Worker rights translate universally. Consumer rights translate.
No, it wouldn’t. Because you’re still going 40% with literal nazi supporters. Dems spent the last forty years rushing towards a moving center, and now we have fascists. Stop.
The problem is our party isn’t being associated with those issues right now. People think we only care about social issues because we have an all or nothing approach on too many things.
I wouldn’t want Jeff Flake representing a blue state but I’d take someone like him over a lot of current GOPers.
Funny, because I know Bush style Republicans that are Never Trumpers. And no, they don't agree with liberal policies but they do feel that Trump is a greater threat to our county and has no respect for the Constitution. I'll take that for now and argue policy later if we still have a democracy.
I never said we can’t work with them. But without accountability it’s a waste of time. Bush was horribly anti-constitutional and a straight up war criminal. I’m not meeting a war criminal in the middle. That’s how you get more war crimes.

A Reagan/Bush style Republican is neither.
