Instead of this being a major red flag about an out of control operation, risking corporate assets, the finance audit manager simply said, “Well, we can’t audit them, there are no books and financial records to review.” And he walked away. /4

The phalanx of political/legal people ready to challenge Trump with lawsuits are like that audit manager. They are prepared to fight fair using the legal tools they know how to use. But Musk has simply gone right to the spigot and taken control of it and can impound anything he doesn’t like. /5

Who are the lawyers going to sue? Bennet? He gave the authority to Musk to ‘review things for efficiency.’ Does anyone see this Supreme Court finding that outside his power to do? Sue Musk? On what standing? He hasn’t ‘done’ anything yet except review. /6

Without visibility into what he is doing, and only seeing the effects of it later after selective monies never show up where they should, he can burn things down rapidly before he can be stopped, and likely at a level that is unrepairable whilst waiting for the slow legal gears to turn. /7

What to do is certainly not clear. But what *is* clear is that if we keep playing by the old rules, we will lose (by ‘we’ I mean the American people, of all stripes, not just progressives). We all need to organize, to fight, yes. But we also need brave leaders to rally behind. /9
